Chinese Achievements
The Chinese had many achievements like:
- Paper in 105 A.D.
- In result more books created.
- Paper made the bureaucracy easier because the gov. didn't have to write on wooden slabs.
- The collar harness for horses led to heavier things being traded.
- Also they improved iron tools, invented the wheelbarrow, and began to use water mills.
- Since the empire had grown so much, the population over 60 million, they decided to make sure they would not starved and worked on agriculture.
- The gov. established monopolies on the mining of salt, the forging of iron, minting of coins, and brewing alcohol.
- A monopoly occurs when a group has exclusive control over there job or production of certain goods.
- As trade flourished China noticed how valuable their silk was and because of this, silk production became closely guarded state secret. As to deal with the demands for silk, China expanded along the Silk Roads to most of Asia, India and all the way to Rome.
- With the Silk Roads many ideas where also traded from western civilizations.
